A pupil of Oreste Candi, Bellafontana opened his workshop in 1935 in Genoa, where he initially built guitars. Only after 1945, with the end of the war, did the best period of his career begin, in fact the bombs had destroyed his laboratory twice but in the end he managed to devote himself successfully to violin making.
Having freed himself from the use of the external form of construction, he concentrates on the production of violins and violas. Member of the Genoa Symphony Orchestra as a violinist, he will become curator of Paganini’s “Cannone”, still preserved in the city today. This famous instrument greatly influenced the work of Lorenzo, who achieved a good level in the Italian panorama of the time by mixing canons of the Genoese school with some personal touches.
Characteristic is the bright yellow-orange varnish as we can see in this beautiful violin. The instrument is perfectly preserved, original in all its parts and accompanied by a certificate.
