String instruments certification

To recognize and identify an antique instrument, sensitivity and intuition are not enough. The taste for violin making is cultivated through years of field experience and direct knowledge of the subject. Only by personally examining the work of the artisans who came before us and deeply studying the history of their lives can we approach the truth of the instrument.

Giorgio Grisales, founder of Grisales Violin Making, is responsible for the authentication and certification of string instruments for the Consortium of Violin Makers “Antonio Stradivari” in Cremona, of which he is the president. He determines, whenever possible, the place of origin and authorship of the instrument, also utilizing the assistance of modern scientific analyses.

Since 2022, Giorgio Grisales has also been conducting this activity for the Chamber of Commerce of Cremona, where he serves as an expert and technical consultant. He provides advice to individuals regarding the sale, purchase, and investment in both modern and antique violin making.
