Our History

The Grisales Lutherie in Cremona was founded in 1990 by Giorgio Grisales, a Master Luthier, Bow Maker, and Restorer of stringed instruments. Since 2016, Giorgio Grisales has also held the position of President of the Consortium of Cremonese Luthiers.
Today, in his lutherie, Giorgio Grisales is joined by his son Andrea and his nephew Ricardo. After over 30 years of activity, their stringed instruments are known and appreciated worldwide.

Escuela

1970

It all starts from here. Born in Colombia in 1963, Giorgio Grisales is still a young student when, captivated by classical music, he begins to dream of flying to Italy to build his first violin.

International school of violin making

1984

In 1984 the dream came true: Giorgio Grisales moved to Cremona where he attended the International School of Violinmaking under the guidance of Maestro Giorgio Ce, together with many boys who, like him, came from far away to the city of Stradivari to learn about the art of Violinmaking. .

Young Master

1988

Four years later, in 1988 Giorgio graduated Master Luthier in the International School of Cremona and in the same year he also obtained the diploma of Bowmaker.

Workshop

1990

In 1990 he concluded his cycles of studies obtaining the diploma of Restorer of Instruments at Arco in Milan. The same year he opened his first workshop in the center of Cremona.

Master

2016

After more than 30 years of activity, Grisales tools are appreciated all over the world. Giorgio often travels abroad to devote himself to the promotion of Cremonese violin making as President of the Consorzio Liutai di Cremona, a position he has held since 2016.

A family history

Today

The history of the Lutherie continues and expands to make room for the future. Giorgio works today alongside his nephew Ricardo and his son Andrea in the family workshop, working hard to build together the best instruments for the musicians of tomorrow.
