A pupil of Gaetano Sgarabotto, Sesto Rocchi attended the school of violin making in Parma where he soon learned to recognize the influence of the Cremona natives in the work of his teacher, who in turn had been a pupil of Leandro Bisiach.
Rocchi therefore decides to move to Milan to attend the Bisiach family directly and come into contact with the famous instruments they conserve. Unfortunately the war will keep him from his work until 1949. In the happy following years he builds many instruments, in particular quartets based on the work of Antonio Stradivari, which becomes his inspiration.
This violin is a classic example of his finest period. The instrument is of excellent workmanship and kept in perfect condition, original in all its parts and accompanied by a certificate.
