In this volume, Giorgio Grisales recounts the life and works of Giuseppe Ornati, one of the most prestigious luthiers in the late 20th-century Italian scene.
For this publication, 27 instruments including violins, violas, and cellos were collected and documented, forming a true catalog of the works and methods of the Milanese master. The book portrays Ornati not only as a craftsman but also as a person, offering a comprehensive view of his life.
This volume is twinned with Giorgio’s first book about Ferdinando Garimberti, a contemporary of Ornati often considered his rival. However, in reality, the two were bound by a deep friendship and shared many aspects of their lives, influencing each other even in their work, as extensively documented in the book.
Both authors have also left their mark in Cremona, contributing to the growth and educational development of the International School of Violin Making.
Even today, in our workshop, we often leaf through these books to find inspiration in crafting our instruments.
The volume is available for order until stocks last.
