Ferdinando Garimberti

Giorgio Grisales

In this volume, Giorgio Grisales tells the story of the life and works of Ferdinando Garimberti, one of the most prestigious luthiers in the late 20th-century Italian scene.

For this publication, 25 instruments including violins, violas, and cellos were collected and documented, creating a true catalog of the works and methods of the Milanese master. The book portrays Garimberti not only as a craftsman but also as a person, providing insights into his life.

This volume is twinned with Giorgio’s second book about Giuseppe Ornati, a contemporary of Garimberti often regarded as his rival. However, in reality, the two were bound by a strong friendship and shared many aspects of their lives, influencing each other even in their work, as extensively documented in the book.

Both authors have also left their mark in Cremona, contributing to the growth and educational development of the International School of Violin Making.

Even today, in our workshop, we often leaf through these books to find inspiration in crafting our instruments.

The volume is available for order until stocks last.
